Ho Don, , Tim here from vancouver island with 67 cuda . Well I know your gonna be pissed at me but I sent my 440 for build up, So far have purchased aluminum eddy heads, new forged pistons and new rods. Still thinking of cam but have got my mind set on good hydraulic . The reason for this Don is the expense, and simplicity of it. Good strong motor, lots of runs and no maintanence. I intend on going to solid or roller cam in a year or two, as money allows. My wife also bought me a 850 mighty demon for xmas. Just wondering on what your thoughts on good hydraulic cam for 3100 lb car and 4.56 gears. Oh and super stock springs also. I know I know racer brown is the ticket, but what other cam would be good, thanks Tim

You can call Chris Brown at Comp or Jim at Racer Brown....humm I wonder if they are related? Why are you avoiding Racer Brown?.... This is a racecar, spell it backwards and it's still a racecar. Crane nodular iron rocker arms 1.6/1.5....$250? Racer Brown ST21 Kit with Jims touch-up....$240.00? 850 Mighty Demon is perfect but you need the cam to make it work, the ST21 and a 850 MD go together like onions in crawfish boil, Cornbread and Honey, Brittney Spears and Me!.....LMAO You've got the gear and convertor, the car is light get it what it wants and kick some ass. Did I mention I got a haircut today?...cost me $25.00 x 8 times a year.....there's the cam.....learn to cut your own hair and buy the cam... What do you guy's think? Buy the RB ST 21 Cam? or Fake it with a hydralic Comp Cam on a Chevy base circle?

ST21 is probably my favorite cam for a moderate motor, RB makes them in SB and BB configurations.....I just bolted one in my 318.......
Fired it up and I realized I couldn't steer the car, something was stuck in the dam spokes in the steering wheel......it was like thinking of Brittany Neck'd....first thing in the morning ;D ;D
That cam was designed with one purpose in life....Drag racing, the idle willl scare women and small children and have hounds running for cover.
I thought my old cam was bad, as soon as it fired all I could think about was how much my motor really needed more cam....I can't wait until the track opens so I can rattle the windows out of a few Chevy's just idling in the staging lanes.
If you have room throw a set of .027 Cometic head gaskets at it and get as much compression as you can dial that Demon in and be sure to give the accelerator pumps room to work when you launch....she'll want all the fuel you can pour into it.
Brittney's your's huh...OK I'll take that Old Canadian Hotty....Shania Twain:P...she's more my age and I'd probably last at least a week before I died of a stroke.

What's your target RPM range? Is this car going to be driven on the street, or just the strip? That cam is going to sound like a BEAST! I can hear the valves now! That's a cam for what an RPM range starting at about 4000 RPM's? I know a new member here by the name of Chryco Phsyco, he's a WHIZZ when it comes to mopars, he's a HUGELY respected guy over at Dodge-Charger.com, and he knows his stuff. Look for him, and listen.

Chryco and I have had many conversations, we even had dinner together when I was in Calgary last month.
He knows his stuff and is a member here also.
Mopar69: Tim's car is all strip and we've been working witth him to get this thing fast for almost 2 years. His project is getting quicker all the time and as with all race cars...they're never finished, there's always a .01 to find somwhere.
That cam actually pulls real hard from about 3K up to about 7 and is probably the best Bracket racer cam I've ever used.

Hi all, sorry have not been on lately, work is good. We have almost completed angine and Don I know you will be dissapointed but we went with crane cam #680701 528 lift and good for 3500 to 6800 rpm, scat rods, je domed pistons, 642 grams, aluminum eddy heads for flat tops, harland sharp rockers. External oil out the block and milidon 7 quart pan. Everything has been improved for oiling. Studs on the mains etc. I know other cams are out there but I just couldn,t get off work to make phone calls so relied on engine builder to do his homework for me. I was worried about clearance with these heads and pistons but they are there, as compression will be 12 or 12.5 to 1. I can always get a racer brown down the road but I think i am going to have a lot of fun with this set up too. Thanks everyone for opinions and ideas they are all stored here on the computer for future builds. In the end here I should of just left my stocker motor alone and built up another , then would of had a spare, Tim

Hi all sorry for not being around lately, but very busy, Well ended up with 12.26 compression on this thing, installed it, fired it up , broke cam in etc, tuned demon carb a little, all is well sounds good. Couple days later fired er up and tick tick tick, uh oh, bent pushrod, uh oh fried the new cam and lifters, lol. Take to machine shop and can,t find no problem except damaged pump, threw it away ans also some grit on the mains, threw them away too. Went with comp cam roller 308 r- 10. Fired it up and all is well, rush to track, have buddy show me how to adjust rockers, roll off the trailer and time for one hit for time trials. Kewl 1.58 60 foot and 4.7 in 300 feet, thats the end of out track. Hit the rev limiter at 5500 which i set just to make sure, lol. Got 3 more hits in between eliminations and blew them all, red lit on one, to much gas and not enough brake, blew a shift or two on a couple of others, threw away thie time slips, lol. All in all was good, launched fairly hard and went straight. Not bad for two weeks of stress, a 17 hour day and a couple of runs and it never blew up. Know all I need is some time in the seat, as car is fine but driver is not,lol Tim

H i all finally made it to mission for first 1/4 mile with this new motor. Met Don, Bob, Ray, even that crazy mopar guy Mark. What a great bunch of people and what a great time. Installed bg fuel pump friday nite, then first thing, Don gives my demon carb the tune up it needed.F irst pass 1.550 60 foot,4.414 330, 6.831 1/8 at 101.70, and 10.707 1/4 at 126.13. Big grin on this mopar owners face let me tell ya. Anyway second run very simialr, pull a plug, back timing down to 34, get a couple more solid runs. Sunday 2cnd round of eliminations get a gift with double breakout, but the car runs 1.521 60 foot, 4.354 330 foot, 6.745 1/8 at 102.86 mph, and a 10.594 at 126.99. 3rd round yup up against Don and just couldn,t catch the fishfry, but oh what a rush. Anyway fellas one happy mopar dude here with some awesome new freinds to boot. Next year though I,m a gonna be better Don,lol. And to Don and his companions, the experience for me and my wife was just awsome, Tim
