hello Im new here so while Im waiting for my new ignition system from don give me an idea what my car will do and if I have any chance of staying in front of my friends 02ws6trans am convertible
Keep in mind this is a low budget car will be a daily driver and the parts although tame to most of you guys are here and on this car to stay until money grows on trees LOL first his car a best of 14.02 mostly in 1425-1440 range 214 best 60 foot mostly 225-30s
my car-72 duster drum brake factory bucketseats manual steering.79 360 used and showing 51000 original miles and Im gonna wear it out.894-x heads fresh some work on intake and exhaust dont know cc or anything about them CHEAP is this cars theme,LD340 intake,Comp cam 268 -454-218 @050 110 LC manual valve body 727 column shifted 10 in. 28-3000 stall,83/4 rear with suregrip and 355s mccreary L60-15 tires 27.7 tall headers 2.5 pipes Superstock springs 002-003s 2 inch blocks and front hangars flipped over,6 banger tosion bars and right now money is the weak spot here and the carb I got aint gonna do it but i need it for now 600 1850 holley and I also have a carter AVS from a 69 440 750 cfm but I need to rebuild it.I know she sounds tame and just want your opinions do I got enough to stay with my buddys Trans am?that car is pretty heavy and hes probably 280 pounds and im around 205-210 plus Im gonna yank the passenger seat as well as the reardo I bet a BEER or bet the BANK when we have our showdown.I know you guys are gonna think I should change this or that but money is tight and Im also faced with emmission testing here in vegas so the above combo is staying for now let me know

Have you ever ran the car? How well does it plant the rear end, or do you blow the tires off every launch? (Die hard Mopar reads please close your eyes......) My 71 chev nova is all stock suspension with only engine upgrade to a manifold and carb, upon launch, I blow the tires off if I am not careful. KILLS your et. Try to find some slightly used drag slicks. Also look hard at rear suspension tuning to assist in getting out in front. If you think you are making enough HP, look at the Cal Trac rear suspension system (or something like it). You may even be able to fabricate this setup depending on your abilities. Go to www.calvertracing.com to take a look at thiem. Not a lot of $$ and can make a big difference on the line. I have seen street cars and 9 second cars all using this and it seems to work pretty good all around.
You can always hope your buddy misses a shift.....

car hasnt hit the road yet this has been a 5 year project since I took 2 dusters and made one good car out of them so no its come up to the boiling point I only need just a few more things and now the motors comming apart one last time gonna throw the heads cam converter in it and see what she doesIts all in good fun though He gives me crap But I think hes trying to push me And Mc Creary tires are soft compound dot legal and I have a buddy who went 10.55 at 3000 feet nitrous aassisted with the same tire so with my SS springs and only 220-240 horse power combo shoudnt be a problem

I would think that with a good tune up and reasonably good traction that you should kick butt right now.

I would think that it will run about 13.60s or so at sea level.
