HELP..... Just put the heads on hooked everything up and started her up. did great till I put it in gear ! cough cough spit hack idle went all to crap!!Well found the prob it was a dead cyl due to a bent p- rod and a bent exaust valve ( oh boy). What is the culprit of this ?? I do not want to put it together to have it happen again ! Do you think it may be just a bad valve job or something else??

it could be any # of problems ,did you check the piston to valve clearance ? possible the guide was to tight or not trimmed off & was hanging into the exhaust port & expanded & siezed the valve

I've recently seen a motor where the timing chain bolt backed off.
It caused the chain to move around on the dowel, and the valves to hit.
Didn't bend any valves, but it did bend pushrods.
