;D Well the kid and the machinist finally got his senior project put together last week. We got the trans bolted up and dropped the unit into the car. Now the fun of chasing small parts begins. You know fittings(Why are there 5 water ports in an Edelbrock Performer?), missing hardware, etc. I could have sworn we put all the nuts and bolts in separate boxes, but some of them seem to have to grown legs. Cant wait to see how Don's ignition works. I'll update as we progress, it's Miller Time. ;D

;DIt's alive!!! The motor fired up almost instantly. Don's ignition throws some serious spark. Took it for a quick test drive, everything seems good. Only one small oil leak and the motor sounds awsome. Can't wait to hit the strip this spring.

Well, we got that damn oil leak fixed. Fabbed up some frame connectors and installed them today. There's a great link on bigblockdart.com with pictures that helped a lot. I may have to build a set for the ol' Coronet. We're gonna to hit the strip at Kool April Nites. Hopefully it doesn't rain.

Well, it didn't rain on the way to Kool April Nites, it freaking snowed! The kid's dart managed to frag the alternator and battery. I think that may have helped cause the ballast risistor to smoke on the return road at the track. At least we trimmed 6 tenths off his best time and he nailed his dial in in the second round. Too bad he rolled through the beams and red lit in the next round.

Try a MSD 8214 Ballast resistor, we have them in stock.
When you drag race make up a simple jumper wire for the ballast and jump the resistor or wire in a switch to bypass it, it'll add 5-8,000 V to your plugs.
Sounds like you guy's are having too much fun. ;D

Man, I read this thread and realized just how fast two years has passed. The kid wound up winning "Best of Show" for his senior project. Since then the car has gotten a Speed Demon from Don and a set of TTI's. The kid has been playing hoop at the local JC and just signed a letter of intent to play Division One at Sac State. Man time flies. I'll have to check back here more often. Talk to you guys later, gotta go fix the middle kid's valve cover gaskets on his truck.(Damn Chevys)
