Yes, another cam and intake thread.......
This is for the 340ci in my 1973 'Cuda.
OK, here is the deal, I was lucky enough to find some 308 swirl casting heads, NOS too!!! I was going to go for the Edelbrock heads buy Chryco didn't seem to happy with what he had seen, not saying what he says goes but he does know his stuff. He said the 308 head is a great head in stock form but he always ports the intake out to 2.02" and has seen 41hp increases over X & J heads without mods, just head swaps, that's how good they are.
Anyhow......I need help picking a intake and camshaft.
I've been told Engel are a good cam and a K56 or K58 is what I need, opinions?
My engine info & misc specs:
Cylinder Heads: 308 swirl head casting with 2.02" intake valves.
Bore: Stock bore with stock pistons (with new rings).
Crank: MP 450hp rated steel crank.
Carb: 650cmf Mighty Demon
Headers: tti step headers: 1-5/8" prims to 1-3/4” OD secondary tubes with 3” collectors.
Exhaust: Forza Flow race muffler with X-pipe and electric exhaust cutouts.
Trans: 5-Speed Keisler TKO-600 (0.82)
Rear: 8-3/4" suregrip with 3.23 gears (Keisler makes first gear 3.73:1)
I'm wanting to have lower rpm/torque rather than high rpms, it's a street car so I prefer to play around from 1,000rpm to 6,00orpm. I don't want the car to start to go hard too late, like around 2,500rpm is out of the question for me. I wouldn't drive a car on the street that peaked out around 7,500rpm! IMHO it's a waste on the street, track sure.
So far I'm either thinking a Mopar Performance M1 dual plane intake or Edelbrock performer RPM Air gap or just the rpm. I was told that a dual plane helps increase the low down torque/rpm, so it sounds like a dual plane is a must for my needs.
Would a stock 6bbl set be better for me perhaps? I just want performance and a fun car for the road. ;D
Thanks,
Carl
