ok... track rules say "neoprene fuel line not allowed on trans coolers. steel line and/or braided hose is highly recommended." now... my truck has the original radiator in it, and the 'push-on' type nipples in the trans oil cooler, connected with... you guessed it... what appears to be neoprene fuel line! i knew it had hose there, i didnt remember the nipples, so i went and bought some copper tubing and the necessary fittings to replace the hoses.
my question is: how can i get from the factory 5/16" steel tubing to these push-on connectors without using fuel line? the nipples are not threaded into the radiator. they appear to have been soldered to the internal cooler before it was installed in the lower radiator tank, then the tank installed to the radiator. dont tell me to buy a new radiator, this one is doing an admirable job as it is, and i dont just happen to have the 4 or 5 hundred dollars lying around to do this anyway. i was hoping for something easy and cheap, that doesnt require the removal of the radiator.
thanks in advance.

Take it to a radiator shop and have them remove those fittings and install a regular nipple. Or replace the radiator......or.......be......creative

i think what i am gonna try is to use what is there, except to put some of that fancy stainless steel braided sleeving stuff over thr hose. that seems to work for gas lines, and i will use power steering return hose. i dunno... as long as it doesnt leak, maybe they wont even look! if all else fails, i will get out the dremel tool, cut the bulged ends of the cooler nipples as long as possible, and put compression fittings on them. dont like that idea, though, as if anything goes wrong, well... i wont have any ky jelly...

One could use the proper sized power steering hose is oil compatable and able to handle the higher pressures.
