Hi, Ive a 360 engine with ported and gasket matched heads. Now I wanna install a new manifold. Is it necessary to match the ports of the intake to the gasket, or does it hurt performance only a bit? There is just liitle material in the ports of the intake and Im scared to break the wall. What should I do? Intake is a Holley Street Dominator.
Thanks, Chris

I'm going to say not to gasket match
Jim at racer brown told me recently, that gasket matching the intake was unwise.
That the intake will never line up 100% with the head ports because of casting discrepencies, decking, etc.
Better to leave the intake port (on the intake manifold, not the head) at it's cast size, so that it is a little smaller than the head's gasket matched port.
Then there is no step at the head., just the expansion from the manifold to the slightly larger chamber in the head.

Ok, I dont touch them. Just looked so small compared to the head intakes. Thanks, Chris
