I voted yes to Reinact the draft. I don't give two shits How big your trust fund is or who your Daddy is your going! I'm am tired of seeing some twenty year olds coming back to oregon in body bags and other more afluient kids going on pleasure crusies after they graduate college. Bullshit!

Coil, The UN doesn't enforce rules of combat. It's a document called the Geneva Convention which was signed after WWI. We signed it and we need to stick with it. That's fine the rules aren't stuck to. We've got the guns to even things out. If we don't stick to this document then who should? Hell, why not just VX them all and get it over!?!.... Kinda sounds like a certain ex-leader of a country (Iraq) that we are in right now doesn't it? I have several friends that are currently on tours of duty in Afgahnistan and Iraq. From what they are telling me we have ALOT more casualties than the press/government is telling us. This is straight from the mouths of who I know so take it for what it's worth. I agree to reinstate the draft.... but. If college bound people don't get drafted that's fine. This country is all about choices and if there is a loophole saying that if you are in college you don't hafta enlist/ get drafted, which I don't know if there really is, could be wrong though. Then it's up to the individual to make the choice... goto war or school.. the choice is yours.

Nope No college escape clause this time around! Some people really don't have a choice it all depends upon what side of the tracks you come from. Not everyone gets to win the old sperm lottery. I don't think war would be so quickly decided if the rich in this country had to serve.

HEY!!! I didnt know that Tipper Gore was and sensoring my posts!
NO SHIT! If they want to go to college, great! Then take advantage of the GI college fund. I think most of those trust-fund brats still suck on their mommas tits while they are in college that daddy is paying for.
If they did serve their country, it would change a lot. You see, they would have a higher sense of self esteem and therefor most likely be more successful in college and a profession. They would also have a greater respect for our country (at least I would hope so) and that could do wonders for our economy. Just think, some crybaby little prick still sucking on momma goes and serves 4 or 8 years. Comes out highly motivated and dedicated, not a quitter, ready to take on anything. Goes to college and gets some big ass business degree. College was paid for by the GI bill, not mommy and daddy. During college, they will be able to support themselves. After college, big time business admin job. Due to their respect, love and admiration for the United States of America and those who live, work and die here, this individual is more likely to make decisions when aquiring product or parts or even a production factory from within our borders. Sounds good to me.
PS - I would repost my prior post if I could remember what I said. By Tipper

I'm kind of in the middle on this subject. I would say yes because I was in the Army, and I would love to see some of these 20 year olds given everything by mommy and daddy go serve their country to gain some respect for what the service men and women do. There are way to many young Americans in college who have no idea what hard work, what it cost to have our freedom, and what service men and women past and present do to give them the right to bitch and complain about everything. If the draft is implaced you would have all those pussies made to join the Army (Use as example what I have experience in). All they would do say shit like I'm not doing that do you know who my parents are kind of shit, or maybe they would be draft dodgers kind of like the last Presidential administration. The problems we have in Iraq/Afghanistan is not un-trained, not enough, equipment etc. It is the politicians, these college aged pussies, and the media. When I come back turn on the TV and here people that killed a couple of friends, and blown another friends hands off, freedom fighters there is something wrong. If the media and others would back off and let the Military do there job everything would be taken care of. Everyone is so handcuffed over there because us Americans should be like pussies, and run away from everything like the French. That is not the American way anyone that f**ks with us gets taken care of (unless a Clinton is in office) and we help other countries. Those ungrateful French bastards should shut the f**k up if it wasn't for us they would be speaking German. Sorry for the rant.

I do have to say that for having almost 200 people on this board, I am pretty surprised that only 3 will vote in the poll and only 4 posts on the subject.

I say get the hell out of Iraq and a few other places. Use the military to build and man the Wall of the U.S. Any person caught here illegally goes over the wall. Come on back when your papers are in order. I'll bet the majority of Americans would agree. Will W do it? Hell no! Will Kerry do it? Hell no!! Bunch of friggin lawyers and fortunate sons. W. is screwing us and Kerry will too.
what do ya think bout that Al?

Ok I stayed out as long as I can, To hell with the draft( I did vote yes) I spent Two (2) tours in Nam.If counrty A wants to jump on country B let the presidents/dictators of the counties do the fighting. Take them to an island let them have each country's best wepons a months supply of rations and come back a see who is left. If its their A$$ on the line mediation will progress light years.
Always take em out from the top down And FORD does rule the blown crippled and DNF right in frount of the Bow tie crowd

Well here's my two bits. I work with a lot of kids coaching sports. I really don't think forcing these kids into military service will help anyone. Most of the delinquents today are too far gone and the service has their hands tied when it comes to hardcore discipline. As far building a wall, give me some bricks and motor. The world doesn't want us to be the global police so screw 'em. Let's bring home all our troops, embassadors and most of all, our money. Let's build cars in Detroit with steel made in Pittsburg. Let's make clothes in New England with wool raised in Wyoming. Let's get our oil from Alaska instead of selling it to Japan. The half of the world that doesn't think we're empire builders hates us for saving their asses from some evil dictator. Let's fix whats wrong here and let the ungratefull bastards die by the side of the road.

ok, here is what i think of the draft. I just did 8 yrs in the Marine Corps i just got out less than a year ago. I did a short tour in Iraq also.
The last thing the military needs is a draft. We do NOT want a draft in the military. Why? you ask? because folks who get drafted in general dont want to be there. People in the military who dont want to be in the military only get in the way of the folks who care about what they are doing. If they dont want to be there they will do what they can to get out even if it hurts someone else. A person who is miserable makes other people miserable also, Ive seen it happen. I understand the idea that everyone should serve and in a perfect world that would happen. Bottom line , the draft would only weaken our military.
