The only reason I support the reinactment is I don't believe for one second that war would be so easily decided if everyones children had to attend? Can you imagine the outrage if all the future lawyers had to go and fight? I'm ex military as well and I would give my life for this country if need be! But I hate war!

Weaken the military? I agree, but those individuals are usually (from my experience) easy to point out. Then transfer them to a rearward position, pushin paper or chopping off mops at bootcamp.

I'm really new to this board and this topic appears to be older but I still believe it holds relevance. Here's my .02 on the draft issue. We do not need a draft right now, for the most part the military has enough people where they need them trained to do what they need them to do. If we were to instate a draft the draftees' would not have many career paths to follow. We simply do not have the equipment available to give the Army another Battalion, or the Navy another battle group, there's also no money for the Marine Corps to expand, and the same holds true with the airforce. Recruiting goals have been met by all service branches since 9/11. If we need a draft don't you think that the military would be coming up short on recruiting numbers? I support the C.I.C. having the option of reinstating the draft, but what exactly is it people think these draftees' would be doing?
