Hi Guys, this is a great message board!!! I have a '70 Duster 340 mostly original. It will probably never see a drag stip but I want better performance. Dual points are a pain and I want to switch to your FBO Ignition system. I have a electronic distributor off of a 72-74 318, will this work with your A688 ignition until I can afford to get one of your distributors? I know very little about this distributor, I bought it off of ebay, but it seems to be in good shape. Also, I have MOPAR Performance plug wires, will these be good enought to use with your ignition or should I upgrade to the plug wires you offer? One last thing, would you recomend a stage 1 or stage 2 distributor for this aplication? Thanks for the info, and keep up the great site!!!

I just want to clarify what I mean by "Will this work with your A688 ignition" is: assuming that the distributor is mechanically sound and has not been modified is the timing curve that is set by the factory for a 318 of this era compatible with my 1970 340? Thanks again in advance for your input. Dusty

Welcome aboard!
The 318 distributor is not going to be correctly ciurved for your engine and results will be be poor at best.
You may run into detonation trying to use it on a 1970 high compression 340 on pump gas.
You can use it until you get enough $$ saved up for a properly curved distributor, but keep it out of detonation.
Any wire set will work as long as the Ohms of resistance don't exceed 1000 per foot of wire.
Without knowing al the specs of your combination I can't say whether a 1 or 2 distributor would be best, but it'll probably need a stage 2 just because of the year and the performance level of even a stock 340.

Thanks for the info, I am hoping I will have enought money left over after buying christmas presents that I can spend a little on myself ;D and order the ignition kit or the complete package with distributor and all. I will get all the specs for my car so you can help me pick the right package. Can I check my current plug wires with a multi meter to figure resistance and compare that to the length? Thanks again, Dusty
