I just installed an A688 ignition system on my 1970 Dodge Coronet R/T (the car previously had a conversion to Chrysler electronic ignition). The A688 seems to work fine, but I noticed the ballast resistor is very hot to the touch - it will almost burn my finger when touched (the old ballast never got very hot). I checked my voltage to the positive coil terminal, which is about 6 volts (key on, engine off).
Is this normal?

Yeah,Mine is too hot to touch while engine is running also.If I need to have the ignition on while working on my car,I always unplug the resistor as a measure to prevent premature failure.
